Our Home Cooking program brings volunteer, chef-led cooking classes to children living in Maryland shelters or transitional housing programs. The simple pleasure of preparing and eating wholeness, nutritious, and home-cooked meals is often prohibited by social, economic, and behavioral factors. To encourage the children to create a sense of ownership in their eating habits, we teach them basic menu planning and cooking skills so they can prepare and enjoy healthy, yet tasty dishes. Our Home Cooking program helps children to expand their palate for nutritious foods and build confidence in their culinary skills.
Through our corporate sponsorships and community donations, we provide the kitchen supplies needed for the cooking classes.
We are actively seeking volunteer chefs and donations of cooking supplies to support our Home Cooking program. Get involved today!
